Biographical Description

Richard Yeates was a resident of Bertie County, North Carolina by 1752. He served on a coroner's jury which investigated Elizabeth Knott's cause of death. Later a resident of Hertford County, Yeates survived a murder attempt perpetrated by Pompey, an African American man Yeates had enslaved. Yeates died sometime after October 1767.
