At a Special Court Holden at the Court House in Hertford County on the Twenty fourth day of October Anno Dom. MDCCLXV. for the Tryal of One Negroe Man ^Slave^ Named Pompey Belonging to Richard Yeates for Attempting the Murther of His said Master; by Seizing Cutting and Wounding him &c.

Who after being Duly Quallifyed appointed Benjamin Wynns to Act as Clerk to take and Enter the Proceedings thereof.

And the Prisoner being Charged with the said Crime And Asked Whether he was Guilty or not Guilty of the Crime, wherewith he stood Charged, Confessed that He was Guilty of the Crime as Charged

And the Court thereupon after Considering the Matter Maturely and Deliberately was of Opinion that the Prisoner at the Barr was Guilty of Felony in such a manner as to Deserve Death. And therefore doth Give Judgment that He the said Prisoner should be Hanged by the Neck till he shall be dead on Tuesday the Twenty Ninth day of this Instant Between the Hours of Twelve and three in the afternoon, And that his Head shall be Severed from his Body, And Stuck up on a Stake Below the Cross Road at Mr Ramsays.

It is also Ordered that the Sheriff see the above Judgment Duly Executed.

At the same time the Court Vallued the above said Negroe Man Slave to Sixty Pounds Proclamation Money.
