Rose, an African American woman residing in New Hanover County, North Carolina, was enslaved by George McCulloch. In 1777 she testified before a local freeholders court regarding Jim, an enslaved man charged with robbery. The nature of Rose's testimony was not recorded, but her enslaver was a member of the court that heard the case. As a result of the trial, Jim was found guilty and executed. Any further information regarding Rose has not been located.
