Biographical Description

William Cheek was born in Virginia in about 1720. A resident of Bute County, North Carolina, he was an owner of enslaved people. In 1768 he served on a local freeholders court when it considered the cases of Ned and Daniel, two enslaved men charged with murder. Cheek died in Warren County, North Carolina in 1790.
