Biographical Description

James Kerr was born in Augusta County, Virignia on April 13, 1738. He was a town commissioner and jailer for Salisbury, North Carolina. In 1776 he was directed to arrest Toney, an enslaved man charged with arson and assault. Kerr died in Iredell County, North Carolina on January 16, 1816.
