This day was brought before us the Subscribers Three of the ^Members of^ Town & Two of the County Comittee's a Negro Slave Named Toney the property of Walter Sharp, who being Examined before us dd confess to have been guilty of Burning his said Masters House and Barn & Shooting a Man & Horse and Cow the [pro]perty of his Master & that he shot one [w]ounded one Jane Lakey, and divers other Misdemeaners
We the members of the Town and County Committee in Conjuncktion have thought proper to Commit the Said Sl[ave] Tony for further Tryel. You are therefore Required to [Rece]ive the said Slave and him in the Jail [of the] County Safely keep untill, he is Discharged therefrom by [pro]per Authority. Given under our Hands this 4th. day of O[c]t[o]ber 1776—
