Biographical Description

Thomas Collins (d. 1800) was a resident of Bertie County who served as a grand juror for the Court of Oyer and Terminer in Edenton District during the fall of 1777 when that court was investigating members of the Gourd Patch Conspiracy. In 1778 Collins signed an oath swearing his allegiance to the State of North Carolina and promised to report any treasonous conspiracies that might threaten North Carolina's independence.
