Robert Coleman was born in Virginia in about 1667. A resident of Isle of Wight County, Virginia, he died sometime after writing his will in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, on March 8, 1716. Upon his death, Coleman's will granted the people he enslaved their freedom, provided that they pay Coleman's sister and brother-in-law 500 pounds of tobacco each year.
