Biographical Description

Anne Coleman was a resident of Isle of Wight County, Virginia, who married Christopher Reynolds sometime prior to March 1716. Christopher Reynolds died in Isle of Wight by March 1733 and by 1737 Anne had remarried to Godfrey Hunt of Nansemond County, Virginia. Anne Hunt was an owner of several enslaved people, including William Derry who had been formerly enslaved by Anne's brother Robert Coleman. When the Hunts sold Derry to an enslaver in North Carolina, Derry petitioned the court there for his freedom. She died sometime after July 1753.
