Thomas Cunningham was a resident of New Hanover County, North Carolina by 1741. An owner of enslaved people, in 1755 he sat on a local freeholders court when it heard a case involving Tom, an enslaved man charged with theft. Maultsby died in New Hanover by April 1797.
