George Davidson was born in Ireland in about 1728. Davidson originally immigrated to Pennsylvania before settling in North Carolina by 1748 when he helped survey the Catawba Valley. He resided on Davidson's Creek in present-day Iredell County. During the American Revolution, Davidson served as a captain in the Rowan County Regiment of the North Carolina Militia. He died in Iredell County, North Carolina on September 24, 1814.
