Michael Brown was born in Ruschberg, Germany in 1732 and immigrated to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in 1738. A wheelwright by trade, Brown arrived in Rowan County, North Carolina by 1758 and served as a local constable in 1766. In 1777 Brown became a justice of the peace for Rowan County, and he died there in 1807.
