Will, an African American man residing in Bladen County, North Carolina, was enslaved by George Kornegay. When Will was found guilty of robbery by the local freeholders court in 1748, the court ordered his execution. Following Will's execution, the court gave compensation to Kornegay for the loss of Will's labor.
