Raleigh Oct 13th 1874
At a Superior Court began and held for the County of Wake at the Court House in Raleigh on the 8th Monday after the 2nd Monday in August A.D. 1874 before the Hon Davis L Kerr, Judge the above named defendant was convicted of the Crime wherewith he was charged as above specified.
And it was adjudged by the Court that the Defendant Richard Carver now here be confined at hard labor for the term of Four years and that he be discharged there from according to law.
And it was further ordered that the Sherriff of Wake County be charged with the execution of the Sentence and that he deliver the prisoner the said Richard Carver to the Warden of the Penitentiary within the time prescribed by law.
