An Inquisition indented & Taken at Wilmington in the County Aforesaid on the Nineteenth Day of September 1770 in the Tenth year of the reign of our Soverign Lord George the 3d. by the grace of God of great Britain France and Ireland King defender of the faith &c—before me John Walker Gentmn. one of the Coroners of our said Lord the King for the County aforesaid upon the View of the body of Quamey a Negroe fellow belonging to Frederick Gregg Esqr. then And there Laying dead upon the Oath of Henry McLorinan, Geo: Garland, William Earl, Benjm Bassett James Harper, Joseph Farrow, Henry Toomer, James Walker, Francis Clayton, Caleb Granger, William Gabie & James James all good and Lawfull Men of Wilmington & County Aforesd. who being Sworn & Charged to inquire how and in what manner the Said Negroe Quamey came by his death Do say upon there Oaths that the said Negroe Quamey on the 18th. Day of September instant, then and there being On board of A Certain Vessell or Sloop called the Sivil Orange Lying in a Common River caled Cape Fear River Accidently fell out of the said Vessell into the said river and was Drowned. And so the Persons Aforesaid upon there oaths Aforesaid say that the Aforesd. Negroe Quamey from the Cause Aforesaid in Manner and form Aforesaid Came to his death and No Otherwise In Witness whereof I the said Coroner & the Jurors Aforesaid to this Inquisition Aforesaid have severally putt our hands & seals the day & Year and place first Above Mentioned
