Biographical Description

Francis Clayton was a prominent resident of Wilmington, North Carolina. In 1770 he served on a coroner's jury which investigated the death of Quame. Later Clayton served as a member of the Wilmington Committee of Safety during the American Revolution, advocating for the Patriot cause. He died in New Hanover County on October 4, 1790.
