Raleigh, N. C., May 19, 1917.

General Leonard Wood,
Southeastern Department of the Army,
Charleston, S. C.

North Carolina has three or more ideal sites for the cantonments to be established for the new army. I will be glad to have these shown to any officers you may designate and to co-operate with you in every way possible to secure desirable locations. I earnestly hope a number of these cantonments will be located in this State.

T. W. Bickett,
Governor.
