<Exemption>

June 8th, 1917.

Mr. C. R. Hudson,
Raleigh, N.C.

My dear Sir:-

Replying to your letter of June 7th, I am directed by the Governor to advise that no instructions have been received regarding the class of citizens who will be exempt from military service under the selective draft. It is presumed that the President will make this clear in his proclamation on the subject which he is expected to issue within the next few days. The Governor cannot advise you in regard to farm demonstration agents who desire exemption until further instructions are received from Washington.

Very truly yours,

Private Secretary.
