Mr. Julius Johnston,
Yanceyville, N.C.

My dear Mr. Johnston:-

Your letter received, and I beg to say that the correspondence in this matter was referred to Major Langston, my Special Aide, and, of course, I know nothing about the matter personally. I think it was the purpose of Major Langston to make some special investigation, but I do not know whether he has done so yet or not. You may be assured that full justice will be done you in case any investigation is made.

Very truly yours,

[unsigned]
