Richard Davis was born in Dobbs County, North Carolina in about 1755. A Quaker, in 1780 he signed a petition from the Wayne County Quakers to the North Carolina General Assembly, requesting a reconsideration of levied tax amounts on the Quakers. He died in Wayne in about 1809.
