Biographical Description

John Wesley Long was born on January 10, 1859, at Long's Mill in Randolph County, North Carolina. Long was a physician and medical administrator. During World War I, he served on the North Carolina Committee of American Physicians for Medical Preparedness of the Council of National Defense until he resigned to organize Base Hospital 65 and deploy to the warzone. He died in Greensboro on August 1, 1926.
