Richard Fagan was a resident of Tyrrell and later Washington Counties. In 1777 he along with his brothers and John Everett, his brother-in-law, Fagan became a member of the Gourd Patch Conspiracy. Fagan later tried to convince several other local residents to take the secret oath and join the plot, including William Jordan and John Buttrey.
