Biographical Description

Julius Caesar Parke was born in Virginia in 1692, the illegitimate son of future Leeward Island Governor Daniel Parke. Although not officially acknowledged by his father, Parke received advanced schooling and later became a resident of Pasquotank County, North Carolina. In 1743 he submitted a petition regarding Phillis, an enslaved woman who had ran away from Parke's property. Parke represented Pasquotank in the North Carolina Colonial Assembly in 1746. Parke may have later resided in Barbados for a short time before moving to Upper Marlboro, Maryland, where he died on November 1, 1756.
