At a court Called at the Court house in Edenton on the twenty third day of March in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy for the trial of Caesar a negroe fellow the property of Mr. Mills Reddick of the Colony of Virginia for the murder of Mr. James Bond late of yo of Chowan County deceased.

The Court met and Qualified according to Law It was then and there ordered ^the fact being fully proved^ that Caesar the Prisoner at the Bar be taken from the hence and carried to the Goal of this County and there remain untill to morrow the the twenty fourth day of this instant March and between the hours of twelve O'Clock and four O'Clock in the hours afternoon of the same day be taken by the Sherriff of the County of Chowan from the Goal of the County aforesaid to the place of Common Execution and there to be hanged by the Neck untill he the said Caesar be dead and it is further considered by the Court that Mr. Mills Reddick the owner of the said Caesar be allowed the sum of Eighty pounds proclamation money.
Given under our hands this 23d. day of March Anno Dom 1770.
