Letter from Harriett H. Proctor to Thomas W. Bickett, May 1918
I will drop you a few lines as I am a very poor woman and 56 years old and have 2 or 3 cancers and am not able to make my way and my son fixed so I would draw $20.00 and he was the only dependall I had will you please notify the war department to send it to me as I am in bad shape he has been in army ever since the third of Oct. he was drafted in the armey and is in columbia camp Jackson Co. K. 321 Infy.
I am sure you dont know my condition and how bad I need money for my doctor bills and to get something to eat if I was able to work I would not bother about this but as I am very old and not in good health I will appreciate you helping me by doing what I ask you my unknown friend. let me know please if you can help me I remain
