The Examination of Quash als Cush a Negro man of Paul Palmer's of Perquimans Precinct taken before me Frederick Jones Esqr: Cheif Justice of North Carolina this 18th: day of Aprll: 1720.
The Examinant Saith that he was at the Cheif Justices Plantation on Sunday about the 3d. Inst:, that from thence in the Night he in Company with a Negro of Mr: Moseleys Nam'd Mustipha & a Negro Namd Jack belonging to Mr: Porters took a Cannoe, & went over to Mr: Crisp, to see a Negro fellow of his Nam'd Sambo but without any Intent to Seduce the fellow from his Master's service, but acknowledgeth that the same Sambo came over the Creek to the afsd: Quarters of the Chief Justices, but Deny's that he Carry him with him to Palmers, and when he was Examin'd for what End he brought the Spare horse, he said it was to Carry away Sambo and that his Master sent the horse for him & farther saith not.
