At a Court held according to Act of Assembly for Tryal of a Negro Slave at Halifax Town in the County afd on the Eighteenth day of February Anno Dom 1768.

Who were duly Qualified by taking the following Oath Vizt. You and each of you shall well & truly try Jack a Negro Slave the property of Ezekiel Moor being charg'd with Grand Larceny & a true Judgment give thereon according to Evidence

The said Negro Jack being charg'd with Grand Larceny

Whereupon the Court having heard the Evidence of Benjamin Garris Ebenezar Slade Jeremiah Nelms and Negro Hercules belonging to John Ricks who on their Oaths prove the said Negro Slave Jack feloniously entered the House of Benjamin Garris & Stole from thence One Gunn of the value of Ten Shillings Sterling the property of the said Garris; and other felonious Acts being also in proof against the said Slave: It is therefore the Opinion of the Court here, that the said Negro Slave nam'd Jack the property of Ezekiel Moor is Guilty of the felony charg'd against him and Order'd that he be taken to the Goal from whence he Came and from thence to the place of Execution and there hang'd by the Neck untill he be dead.

And it is further considered that it appears to this Court that the said Slave is of the value of Eighty pounds proc. money.

Order'd that the Sheriff do Execution of the above Judgment on Saturday next, between the hours of Twelve & Two of the Clock—
